Possible Booking

If I book an artists and I am the management and have conflicts with the artist and decide to not let the artist do the show because she has no band and cancel the artist and I had sent some money to the artist and then ask for the deposit back and there is no contract but I have a copy of the check and the artist does no return the money can I charge her with thef or thef by deseption.

There may not be a written contract but a court would look to see if there is a verbal contract or something like a contract in your conduct. You may want to consider a civil lawsuit against the artist. I or another one of the attorneys that post here would be happy to help you for a fee.
