Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Georgia

I have a child (in Georgia) that only has one kidney. The doctor will not sign off for him to play football. The school will not let him play without a letter. As his parent do I not have the right to make this decision?

Football and other sports teams are school sponsored activities. The schools (and boards of education) generally have the right to implement guidelines for the safety of their students and sports teams. Parents are not free to make up their own rules and guidelines for the school's activities. Often, they have to protect students when parents will not and requiring medical approval is probably the most important safety rule.
