if your charged with abandonment regarding children what can happen?

You can go to jail and be fined. If it is all within Georgia state lines, the maximum penalty is a year in jail and $1000 fine. Each 30 days you don't pay can be a separate offense, so the penalty for 36 months of non-support could be up to 36 months. Usually, if a person makes a significant payment and cooperates, a long jail sentence is avoided.

Failure to pay support also results in loss of one's driver's license.
