Name change for my Son.

Hi, I have a 9yr old boy, at birth the mother out spite given him someone elses last name, At this point i am a single parent raising my children, I cannot get him into any sport activitys plus any school events because of this situation i reside in Suwanee,Ga. Please give me some advise on doing a name change for him. Thanking you in advance--name removed--

I believe you are confused about the effects of a name change. A name change has NOTHING to do with whether your child can be in any activity. That is a decision that can ONLY be made by the custodial parent, and the last name does not matter at all.

What it sounds like is that you are not listed on the birth certificate at all. Correction of a birth certificate and resolution of paternity issues is potentially complex and expensive, although the mother's cooperation can lower the costs a great deal.
