Keep in mind that Georgia abolished common law marriages in 1997 (but if requirements were met prior to then, it could still be recognized).

In the first place, you have to show there even was a common law marriage, i.e., it had to occur before 1997. It is not recognized after that year. If there is a valid common law marriage, there are too many factors to list here . Consult with a local attorney.
