Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

To Whom It May Concern,

I just want to say thanks for answering my previous question concerning child support case law in Ga. But i am still unsure about the response. I was previously told that not attending school in the state of Ga is not a cause for Emancipation of a child. But if this is the case, does that also mean even if a child is incarcerated for a period of time before his/her 18th birthday does that mean also that is not a cause to Emancipate either? Also i was previously told that any questions about modifications should have been reached before the child's 18th birthday. So if this is so, can an individual not have their child support modified if their financial status have changed and they are working in a different capacity than previously employed? Or are they stuck paying the original monthly amount in court order until paid in full?I am posing these questions because i want to weigh my options of being able to just settle the case and be done with it or continue to pay the monthly amount due if it makes a difference about my financial status. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

HR

As stated before - modifications are not retroactive. So anything you owe from the past is set in stone.
