Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I was in court in August, I was out of work and behind in child support,

had paid every month 50% plus as I could,

And had paid my ex in full by 6days prior to the court date in August.

She hired an attorney while I represented myself.(couldnt afford it)

And the judge signed an order for me to pay my exs attorney her $1500 fee.

I received the order finally on Nov 5th, 2013.

Someone advised me to simply pay $5 per month til it is paid off.

My question is can I pay $10 $35 per month and not fear legal action,

by my exs attorney, here in cobb cty Georgia?

What should I be afraid of if anything?

Please advise the possible scenarios I can potentially face?

Thank you.

D

I agree with Mr. Ashman and also like to add that you might stop listining to your friends legal advice. This could get you into more trouble. Most attorneys give free phone consultations. Always go that route first.

I would be surprised if the order did not specify a time to pay off the fees, or a monthly amount. Your wife's attorney may be willing to work with you in setting up a monthly payment plan. I seriously doubt if he or she will accept $35.00 per month on a $1,500.00 fee award. In any event, you have to follow the terms of the order unless the attorney is willing to work something out. If he/she is, get it in writing.
