Re: Custody of unwed child

In Georgia, the father of a child born out of wedlock has no rights to the child. He must first go to court to have the child legitimated. Once the child is legitimated, his rights will be equal to yours. He can then petition the Court for custody/and or visitation. His chance of success will depend on the evidence presented as to your fitness as a parent. Fell free to contact my office for further consultation on the matter.
