Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My daughter is 16. Her father applied for SS Disability 2 yrs ago. During this time he's been receiving Workman's Comp. His child support payments have been sporadic during this period. He was approved for his SS Dis & my daughter will receive back pay from the time he applied & is going to receive a monthly amount. He is wanting me to "reinburse" him from her back pay all the child support that he has paid during this 2 year period because he says I owe it back to him because SS is paying the back pay and if I get to keep what he's paid me then its like getting paid twice or double. He says I owe him $8000 but he'd "take" $5000 for settlement out of court. Am I legally required to pay him this?
