Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Divorce decree from Florida requires alimony until spouse remarries and life Insurance 3 times salary for alimony and child support. Ex lives in VA, I live in GA, dependent is now of age and support not due. Spouse is unwilling to allow agreement on reduction of Life Ins even though the premiums have trippled and my salary has gone up. What state do I have to get the decree domesticated to adjust insurance and alimony when I retire in 3 months. With her retirement settlement and the alimony she will get 67% of retirement and life Ins will be 7%.

Florida. Neither the courts of GA nor VA can modify an alimony order. They can only enforce it. Check with your Florida divorce attorney (if he or she is still representing you or with another amily attorney if not) and talk to them about modifying the alimony award.
