If my husband and I take a trip out of the country and leave our minor children with a caregiver, what documents should we porvide in case there is an emergency or accident?

It's risky to do it, but at a minimum the caregiver needs your health insurance cards, a properly drafted document authorizing the caregiver to get medical care for the child in an emergency. I would suggest having a lawyer draft a variation of a health care directive, but one dealing with the children.
