i live in georgia and have a daughter my name is on her birth certificate and her mother has recently passed away she is with her grandmother what do i need to do to get my daughter

If the child lives in Georgia, the first step is to legitimate the child. You can move for custody in the same petition.

You didn't say if you ever legitimated the child. If you did, then getting custody is likely (get a lawyer to help.)

If you did not, Georgia law is at best murky. Legitiization may be problematic because you cannot serve a necessary party, the mother. However, Superior Courts have broad jurisdiction as to custody and, with a lawyer's help and creativity you could seek some access to the child.
