Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I live in Georgia and have had two kids by my ex-girlfriend. We both are in the military, I sign an aknowledgement of paternity for both of them. We now are going though a very difficult breakup. I want to know if I give up my parental rights am I still obligated to pay child support?

Yes. There is a lot at stake, so consult with a local attorney.

You may be able to give up your parental rights. However, the judge may not allow you to do so if it would result in the taxpayers footing the bill for your child's support. Therefore, you should consult with an attorney to determine if the court will allow you to do so.
