Is My Marriage Legal?

I was in the military stationed overseas in Germany, and my husband and I got married in Denmark. I have heard that my marriage may not be considered legal here in the U.S. My husband and I are about to file for divorce, but I would like to know if my marriage is even legal first before I go through that headache.

If the marriage met normal legal standards in that country, it's recognized in the U.S.
