For the parent that will not have primary custody,what is the difference between joint custody and just visitation?

You asked an unanswerable question, as the answer depends completely on all the words around those terms in the agreement, court order and parenting plan. Generally, the difference comes in decisionmaking, but there could be almost no difference or lots of difference depending on the actual documents.
