Can a principal give a power of attorney to a trusted friend when she's out of country to file for and complete a divorce in Georgia?

Powers of attorney cannot be used to file for divorce.

If a divorce is uncontested, in many counties, if a person has counsel, the courts do the case without a hearing, so the person should see a lawyer while here in the country. If contested, the person is going to need to be available for hearings, depositions and mediations.
