Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My question = I have signed divorce papers signed from attorneys office from 4 years ago. We decided to try again and stopped the filing. Can we use the same divorce papers and file those with the court to obtain the divorce now.

What a horrible idea!

First of all, likely some facts (and your finances) presumably have changed since then.

Second, there have been significant changes in Georgia's divorce laws from 2007 to 2011 which may affect which papers are appropriate.

Third, it's unfair to the lawyer, who only has his time to sell.

Fourth, since many courts will hear uncontested cases WITH counsel with NO hearing, and usually have a hearing for pro se cases.

Fifth, each of you have separate legal needs and what is good for one of you may be bad for the other. Unless both of you had lawyers then, the one who did not have one then remains at a disadvantage now.
