Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can he do this?

I am currently separated from my husband of 3 years. Within the first wee of him leaving he shut off the power. Now he has turned off the water. I had to pay a very large deposit for power and cannot afford another deposit for water. I have 2 young children (one of which is his). Can he legally do this?

I am looking for an attorney with reasonable fees and possibly a payment plan to help a young working, student mother.

You did not indicate whether you are legally separated or just separated in fact. If you are legally separated, the answer to your question depends on what your decree says. If not, then it could be an act of child neglect, but not one that clearly rises to the level of a crime.

If the utilities are in his name, technically, he can have them shut off. Your only recourse is to file for divorce and seek an emergency temporary hearing to order him to reinstate the utilities. Consult with a local attorney ASAP.
