Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My son was married for a year. He's been divorced for 3 years. There was no property to divide, no outstanding debts and no children that we are aware of, so it was a simple dissolution of marraige. A friend just told him that his ex wife is trying to find out his D.O.B. and birth place. She says she needs it in order to get a passport. That is all any of us know. Does she need that information for a passport, or is there ANY legal reason she would need this info this late in the game?

Why wouldn't a woman he was married to for a year not already know his DOB and birth place? That in and of itself seems odd. You may want to look online at the U.S. passport application, but I don't recall anyone being divorced needing to give their FORMER spouse's DOB and place of birth in order to get the passport. I agree that something smells fishy.

Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*****
