Can the fathers visits be stopped if his spouse is a convicted felon?

If you are looking for ammunition against the father with a general question, and no facts whatsoever, you may be out of luck. There is a difference between a ten year old non-violent felony, and a recent assault conviction, but you did not provide the facts. If there is a real danger to the child, you need to see a lawyer immediately.
