Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Waiting

The divorce trial was on 5/20/05. No jury, just lawyers and the judge. My lawyer informs me that she has not heard anything from the judge on his ruling. How long does it take for a judge to make a ruling on the case? He(Judge) presides in 2 counties. My lawyer also states that she cannot talk to the judge and that his secretary says he's working on it. My life is crazy waiting for this ruling.

Re: Waiting

There is really no way to force the judge to issue a ruling in a timely manner. You might consider asking your lawyer about contacting the other lawyer about scheduling a joint meeting with the judge.

Re: Waiting

Judges are under no obligation to render rulings within any time frame. They take as long as they need to rule on cases. Unfortunately, you will have to be patient with this judge.
