Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

disgruntled employee threatening to sue.

I live in the state of Georgia. I own a small business with less then 3 employees. I am not required to carry WC. Two weeks after being fired for insubordination, the ex-worker called and asked for his job back, when I said no he said he suffered a hernia on the job. He said he plans on sueing me. But, a co-worker heard him talk about an already existing hernia prior to his release. He was employed with me for less then 30 hours. What can I do?

Re: disgruntled employee threatening to sue.

There is not really much do unless the former employee actually files a lawsuit. Unless you are willing to discuss a possible settlement with him, simply wait and see what he does. However, if you want to take more proactive approach, you can have an attorney send him a letter warning him not to sue with an invalid claim.
