Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

lost data

i recieved a letter from a contractor who is associated with the medicaid office in the state of georgia. it informed me that it had lost a cd containing all of my family information, social security numbers, bank account numbers, D.O.B, etc.. is there anything i can do legally to hold them accountable for this data being out there somewhere?

If the lost data is used to steal your identity or any other illegal or damaging act, you may have a case against them for loosing your info. However, if the information is truly lost and never recovered bb anyone, there is no damage.
