Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

How to pay the fee I was sued for

I was sued by a former friend in the amount of $2500.00 a few years ago. I just realized this civil lawsuit is on my credit report. I called the courthouse and the Clerk told me I could pay the plaintiff and that she would have to petition to have this info removed from my credit report. I contacted her last night and she is trying to legally bind me to a specific amount each week, which I cannot afford. I want to pay her & get this off my credit report but I feel like it is not in my best interest to have contact with her. She is bad news and makes me feel uneasy when I speak with her. What is the legally correct thing to do in this matter? Should I contact her lawyer? Should I pay what I can, when I can diredtly to the court? How can I ensure it gets removed from my credit report? Who do I pay? Thank you.

The "legally correct" thing to do is pay the debt, or send it through her lawyer, and end it. She has no obligation to take a payment plan. When it is paid, she reports the payment as a paid judgment and it is reflected on your credit report that way.
