Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

I purchased a vehicle from a private owner, paid cash and took possession of title and vehicle. 2 days later while cleaning the vehicle I found personal items under the seat that I got rid of. Afterwards the previous owner contacted a friend demanding the items back. Did I have to return those items? And/or am I liable for the costs now that I no longer have them?

Maybe. You were obviously vague about what the property was and what you did with it. Most likely there is a reason for that. Regardless of the the details, a decent, honest human being would have returned anything of value (monetary, personal, or otherwise).

Maybe. The fact that you refused to tell us what the "personal items" were makes me suspicious that you have a legal problem. And regardless, only a very immoral person would not have returned the items. If they were valuable, see a lawyer, as you could be in trouble.
