Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

What steps should I take if I take my car to shop and they replace a coolant reservoir and they fail to put antifreeze in my car and when I add antifreeze it mixes with the oil causing my head gasket to be warped?

Well it sounds like a malpractice/negligence claim. Given the description of the underlying mechanical problem, I imagine that your car is fairly old. If the relative value of your claim is only a few thousand (or even a few hundred dollars) you are better served filing a claim in magistrate court. If you hire an attorney, you will be required to pay the attorney at his/her hourly rate in most instances.

Best of luck to you.

If the repair place is reputatable, they will offer to fix the underlying damage.

If they are not, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and State Office of Consumer Affairs as this will pressure some businesses to act.

If that fails, file a small claims case in Magistrate's Court.

Be sure to have another reputable mechanic document the mistake immediately.
