Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

Hi,

I am on L1 visa and my wife on L2 visa without EAD. We both have SSN. Few questions,

1. Can my wife run Dance/Hobby classes at home without EAD?

2. Can I earn additionally through online surveys/ part - time jobs/personal websites while working for my company (L1 status)?

SSN and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have different opinions on this.

Please suggest.

Yash

To be able to work legally in the United States and earn income, your wife must apply and obtain a valid EAD first. A L-2 is able to do so.

As to the rest of your questions, I suggest, you consult a lawyer in private.

Hi,

Your wife is eligible to file for EAD. Once she has applied for and received EAD, she can legally work anywhere without restrictions.

L1 status is employer specific. You can receive compensation only from the L1 employer. You cannot legally be compensated otherwise.

You can call our law firm during business hours at 212-268-3580 or email [email protected] for guidance.
