Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Sexual Harrassment

I have been repeatedly harrassed in a sexual manner by a coworker. He has said sexual things to me, touched me almost everywhere, has held me down and tried to kiss me. He repeatedly has asked my on dates, and refuses to take no for an answer. I tell him to stop and to leave me alone but he won't I haven't told anyone at work because I was afraid I'd lose my job, or be moved to another dept. I like the job I have now and don't want to be moved. I also was afraid because I'm more replacable around there than him. I thought no one would believe me and I have no witnesses to any of this. He makes sure that no one's around when he does these things. He's told me that he can't help it and he knows he's wrong. He's even called himself a dirty old man. But he won't stop. I even have told him he's going to get in trouble for this. Nothing works. He even told me if I didn't go out on a date with him he'd kill himself. He causes arguments with me over work related things all the time, I feel it's because I continually reject him. He offered to pay me to be with him, and has followed me after work on numerous occasions.I don't know what to do. I've thought about quitting my job,I can't work like this. Something happens almost daily. Help!

Re: Sexual Harrassment

Perhaps the problem could be resolved if you had notified the management, but you let it go on to this point. Tell the management now. They can't be expected to fix a situation they don't (or may not) even know about and if you just let it may only look like it was not that serious. For some of the conduct you allege, such as holding you down, following you, etc. a call to the police may be in order. In short, no one can stop a problem if they don't know about it.
