Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Apartment Complex Sold

Our apartment complex was recently sold to a new management company. The new company says they bought our lease and we don't have a right to move or break our lease except under the terms of our lease with the previous owner. I say that the company had no right to sell us as residents when we didn't even know the complex was for sale (We think that our lease is nontransferable). We would like to move since we're not happy with the new management, do we have the right to do so without abiding by our original lease?

Re: Apartment Complex Sold

Chances are your lease is transferrable and you will have the same obligations now as you had with the old landlord.
