Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Security Deposit

Is it legal, in GA, to use the security deposit as payment for the last month's rent? There is no clause in my lease stating that it may NOT be used for this purpose, but it is also never referred to as payment for a month's rent. Is it implied in Georgia that it may not be used?

(There is no valid reason for my landlord to withhold any portion of my security deposit as the condition of the apartment is the same, if not better, than when I began renting it.)

Re: Security Deposit

A security deposit is generally security for unpaid rent or damages. You do not provide any facts or context, such as whether you are still there, whether you are at that last month, why the last month's rent is not paid like other months, etc. There is no magical answer, unless it is "maybe."
