I need to rescind a job offer based on an unfavorable conversation about the candidate. How can I do so legally?

I'm not sure why you posted this to legal malpractice lawyers (that's the area of LawGuru you posted in) as employment lawyers never saw one (taht's where the post needed to be)

Absent an employment contract, many job offers can be rescinded. And if you're a business you should certainly have a relationship with an employment lawyer, as businesses without that have a great likelihood of lawsuits, higher unemployment insurance claims, and other problems (and with one you already have language that you'd be using that solves your "problem"). So the best answer is call that labor lawyer (I'm not one) and pay him for a half hour's time.
