How long do I have for sueing a doctor for screwing up an outpatient surgery?

There are some ifs, ands and buts, such as what happens if it involves a foreign object in the body, if it involves a minor, and if it involves a series of treatments. The general answer is two years (which may or may not apply to you), but given the time it takes to develop a case, you would want to see an attorney within the first couple months if you feel there is malpractice and certainly see a lawyer well before the end of one year.
