Legal Question in Military Law in Georgia

Army Medical Discharge/Medical Board Rating

My husband is being put out of the Army on a medical discharge. The rating given to him by the Medical Board was only 10%. Going by what friends and other people that got out on a medical discharge, this is just what they tell you the first time, to get you out of the military quick and easy. I was told that the VA will, for lack of a better term, ''laugh in his face'' when he goes to them as part of the process, and the benefits from the VA will be bare minimum if any. Should he go and dispute the rating? Considering he'll have pain for the rest of his life, a 10% rating, getting him barely ANY disability pay seems like a bunch of crap to me. Any advice?

Yes, by all means, he should contest it. But, he's going to need a lawyer to do it. For once, the Barrack's lawyers were right - they generally don't even discharge people for 10% so it smells from the beginning. Contact Attorney William Cassara, who is in the Augusta area, or you can type his name and get his number on the internet, who handles a LOT of military cases like this, and knows his stuff. Tell him that I referred you to him, he and I know each other. Good luck.
