Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I attended an outside function at my nephew's school recently. They have trash cans with no covers all around the area. I was stung by a yellow jacket and am highly allergic. I spent 37 hours in the hospital. Am I legally able to request compensation for those hospital bills from the local school system?

Sure you are allowed to make the request, and they are allowed to tell you no. Your claim that they are liable for the actions of a yellow jacket because they have trash cans, like every other school and outdoor facility (and family reunion, birthday party, etc) in the country, are not likely to get any positive response. You would have to show a lot more than a random yellow jacket - such as the school knew about nests and failed to clear them.

I agree with Mr. Riddle. Unless you can show that the school was aware of a nest or something of that nature, it would be difficult to prevail because even if there had been covers on the trash cans, you could have still been stung. You would need to prove that if they were not negligent as you allege, this would not have occurred.
