Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I had a tenant who's girlfriend was attacked by my dog after she took him outside to give him water and to play (?) with him. I was at work at the time of the attack and left my dog secured. I offered to help with the medical bills because I feel guilty that my dog (even though he had been around her for months) turned on her. I have spent $800 on my end dealing with my dog. I come to find out that she may not have been covered by her parents' health insurance. I want to know what is 'fair' help in this situation.

Do you want to know what is "fair" or whether you have legal liability?

What is "fair" is a personal question and something that two reasonable people could have a legitimate disagreement over. I, personally, would be more prone to helping her if I found out she does not have health insurance.

Regarding legal liability, that will depend on a number of factors including (1) whether you were negligent in the way you left your dog secured (i.e., was your dog simply tied to a tree? has your dog bitten anyone before?) and (2) did the tenant's girlfriend "assume the risk" of being bitten by the dog by playing with him.
