Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Breaking a lease agreement

I am a 18 year old high school student. My husband has been recently arrested. And our two room mates are moving out. I can not afford the rent with me still in high school. So I am going to have to move out. The lease agreement was for 1 year and that does not end till april of 2003. What will happen if the landlord decides to take me to court? What can she do about this?

Re: Breaking a lease agreement

A lease is a contract. If you cannot honor your end of it, she can sue you possibly for the remainder of the rent plus attorneys fees. You should consult with a local attorney in your area.
