Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Breaking my lease

I have to break my lease on a house. I am wondering what I may have to face legally if I do. There is not a clause in the lease stating anything other they have the right to pursue equitable compensation. Please let me know what you think is the best approach for me to take or what they may be able to do to me. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Re: Breaking my lease

A lease is a contract. If you don't fulfill your end of the deal, the landlord can sue you for the remaining balance and for any security deposit. A judgment can go on your credit report. Best advice: explain the situation to the landlord, bite the bullet and reach a compromise settlement. Get it in writing.
