If you buy a piece of land but its not titled in your name you cannot deduct the property taxes on it. I don't understand what you are trying to do by not having it in your name. If you are trying to protect the property from legal problems of your daughter, then why would the land be in her name? What are the legal issues?

What you are proposing smacks of fraud. Maybe you did not mean to suggest that and maybe you have no fraudulent intent. However, I suggest that you see a real estate lawyer about deeding the property. Why can't your daughter buy the land and then turn around and sell it to you? Why does it have to be in her name to begin with? This does not make sense.

On the tax issue, I am not a tax attorney, but I don't see how you can deduct property taxes for land that you do not own. Your daughter would be able to deduct them if she owned the land.
