Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Buyer Does Not Show Up to Close

I currently have a buyer under contract to purchase my home. We are scheduled to close in less than 2 weeks. I contacted her yesterday and she said that her and her husband may be splitting up. What legal rights do I have if they do not close? I have already found another place, packed, etc

Re: Buyer Does Not Show Up to Close

Signing a contract to buy property is just like signing a lease on an apartment, in that, just because "things" in your life change, that does not mean that you can just walk away. Have the contract reviewed by a local attorney to see if there is an "out" clause. If not, go to the scheduled close (as in "ready, willing and able" to close). Then, if they don't show, you have a breach of contract case against them.
