Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Missed a hearing date. (due to lack of notice) Opposing side was granted its motion for summary judgment. What should I do next?

Do what you should have done long ago - get a lawyer. Judges hear the "lack of notice" all the time and it rarely works.

Lack of notice is your fault. If you had paid a lawyer as you should have, he would have monitored the calendar for you. Since you chose to represent yourself, you had the duty to do what he would do, check the court calendars on a regular basis.

When lack of notice is self-inflicted, as it apparently is in your case, it's not a defense. Unless you're within the time for an appeal (30 days) and have legal grounds for one, you do whatever the judge ordered you to do.
