Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Personal stuff taken without notice!

My lease ended on December 31st of 2001. I packed up all my families belonging's and then drove to visit family in Florida. While I was gone my landlord came into the home and moved all the belongings somewhere. She says that we cannot have the stuff until we come up with the money we owe her for past rent. My question is that I thought they couldn't come into the home and do anything(especially that) without 60 days notice.

If you left your property on the premises after your lease expired, the landlord is entitled to receive a reasonable amount as storage charges. She could have disposed of it as "abandoned" if you simply took off, leaving your possessions.

From the introduction of your question, it seems that the rental property was in Georgia. Such being the case I cannot assist you because I am not admitted to practice in that jurisdiction. Good luck.
