Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Received a demand letter from the previous owner demanding items left at the house over four years ago or they will take legal action. Do they have a right to request anything back after the property transferred and its been 4 years?

Sure, they have a right to ask. Unless it is valuable property or included in a contract, it won't likely lead to any legal action. It is easy to bluff. If it does lead to a lawsuit, you'll have to defend (but it is not likely they can make solid legal arguments that they have not abandoned the property or the statute of limitations expired). If you still have property that is/was theirs, why not gather it up and give them a day and time to come and pick it up? It is best to avoid these disputes when possible.

That depends on the wording of the sales contract and closing papers, and what items were left. Discuss that with your lawyer.
