Legal Question in Tax Law in Georgia

Is it illegal for my employer to change the status of my state tax withholding without my knowledge or consent?

Last year, my employer manually changed my status to Tax Exempt. After May 1st, I had no state taxes withheld from my paychecks, so now I owe money, instead of getting a refund back. I had no notification or knowledge that this had happened, until I received my W-2. However, when I checked my paystubs, I saw the error wasn't a type-o. I understand that I am still responsible for paying my taxes, but Is there anything I can do about my employer?

Probably, but it would likely get you fired. Small claims court exists to settle disputes not involving a great deal of money. If you lost money by your employer's action, and you want to pursue it, that would be the place.
