Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Leave the scene of accident

I bumped into a parked car while backing out of my office parking garage. No one was in the car. I did not leave a note and came back and parked in another place in the same garage. I was charged under 40-6-270 ? Isn't it incorrect and I should have been charged under 40-6-271 ?

What can I do in court and what would be my punishment?

I would really appreciate an answer.

Thanks

Re: Leave the scene of accident

Based on the facts you give, 271 would be the more appropriate code section. If they are charging you with a violation of 270, then you have an excellent defense that the vehicle was attended and therefore you did not violate 270.
