Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Ordered to show cause

I just recieved a certified letter to my Post Office box that says City... vs. (my former tenant)then addressed to me !. I only helped him interpret documents and posted bond for him a month earlier than this. The letter states that he failed to appear in court and now there is to be a hearing for the principal and surety or sureties. It has in bold that it is a notice of hearing and rule nisi. If my tenant has left the country , what does this mean and what will normally follow?

Re: Ordered to show cause

Since you posted the bond you are getting notice of a bond forfeiture hearing. You have the right to show up and argue that it should not be posted ... for good cause. But the long and short of it, unless you can produce the defendant in only a few days (meaning turn him into the local jail) then your bond will be forfeited. If you placed cash, you will loose it. If you put up property, then you will have to bring in the amount in cash or the sheriff will cease the property and sale it to satisfy the bond.
