Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Got a ticket for following too closely in Georgia (40-6-49) and wondering if its worth my time to contest it in court. Myself and the car in front of me were traveling at the speed limit when a car pulls out in front of us, realizes she ran the light and comes to a complete stop in the middle of the road. Car in front of me barely missed hitting her but I then rear ended the car in front of me. Police report reflects this as well

That's sounds exactly like the classic definition of following too close. You have to stay back far enough to be able to stop for the unexpected, and clearly you didn't.

Having said that, a ticket can raise your insurance and cost you a fine and points. You may possible, with counsel, be able to negotiate a plea that avoids that.
