Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

estate account

My Fiance`s mother died intestate. He is her only child- she was not married. He has been handling her affairs and received a refund check endorsed to ''The Estate of'' They will not put the check in his name. He is unable to cash it and was told by his bank that he needs to set up an Estate Account'' We can't find forms or information regarding this- and would like to find out if its something we can do ourselves. The check is not for a large amount, and we really don't have much money to spend on getting it cashed
