Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

My father died and the women that was his girlfriend filed a years support against his estate. We battlrd for 4 years and then settled with her because it was costing us so much money. She died shortley after that. Now her son is coming after us for the money we were paying her. Is there anything we can do now that she is dead. I was left my dads estate in his will.

Although no one here has read the settlement, if you settled with her, presumably her heirs would receive whatever amount you paid her (but the answer depends on what the settlement says). I assume you had a lawyer at the time, and since he's read the settlement and we have not, he is the one that can actually give you a definitive answer.

Who was the executor for the estate? Were the procedures followed regarding settling disputed claims? More information is needed regarding the settlement and the terms.

However, if you settled with the girlfriend, you should have had an attorney to draft the settlement agreement to protect your interests. If you didn't hire an attorney, you should do so now. There should be a local experienced probate attorney who can sit down with you to advise you of the matter.
