Husband has died===can't find will===where do I go to find a copy?

My husband has died and I can't find the will. Where do I go to get a copy?

The lawyer who prepared the Will should have a copy and may even have the original. Try to contact all the lawyers used by your husband.

Sometimes, but not often, a Will is deposited with the Surrogate for safekeeping.

Maybe he left it with the children or a close friend.

If the Will was last in his possession and cannot be found, the law assumes that he revoked it. First, a prior Will would take effect and if there is none, then the laws of intestacy would apply.
