Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Stepmother's rights

My father passed away in Dec 05. I do not know if he had a will. He has not had anything to do with my sisters or me in the last 20 yrs or so. He never pd support. He had a wife and another child (now 27 yrs). At the funeral, we were not even mentioned/acknowledged by his wife, son or preacher. my sisters and I lived with my father for about 6 yrs (from 9yrs until 16 yrs), during this time, we were treated badly. We never went on vacation with the 3 of them, they went alone and left us with my great gradma, they did not even tell us they were going away. We never got new clothes for school, Christmas gifts were items bought at garage sales. I won't go into all the details right now, only the pertanent ones. My father had land and a house which I believe were paid off. He and my stepmother aquired this while they were married (I was living with them when they bought it). My father bought and restored old cars. He had one when he died that he placed in shows. Since my father passed, my stepmother has been seeing someone. They are still taking my fathers car to shows and winning money. My question to yu is, do my sisters and I have a legal right to any of my fathers estate if he did not have a will? If he did?

Re: Stepmother's rights

If he did leave a will, the will will control as to whether you get anything. If he did not, you and your sisters are entitled to a share of the estate. Consult with a local attorney ASAP.
